Reaffirming the connection between Techno and (post-)punk is Hayden Payne aka Phase Fatale, emerging from a musical background fuelled by New Wave & Synth, guitars & audio engineering. With a penchant for the queerer fringes of goth and adjacent subcultures, and after relocating from the Big Apple to Berlin, he continued to shape his unique and influential blend of Industrial- and EBM-inflected Techno in the German capital, with prestigious residencies following swiftly. With his own label BITE, formed in 2018, he built a platform for even more unorthodox approaches to Techno.
Function is another New York native based in Berlin - his sets at Berghain shaped Phase Fatale’s design of techno as he began to immerse himself in the city! - and known as a member of the haunting and influential Sandwell District collective, who also runs his own imprint Infrastructure. Collaborations with the likes of Regis, Vatican Shadow, Luke Slater, Steve Bicknell and many more, alongside affiliations with Downwards, Ostgut Ton, Tresor and Bassiani, just to name a few, help map the sonic coordinates and legacy of an artist who’s been at the forefront of subterranean Techno since the 1990s. 
The works and designs of Sarmabot, also known as Anja Lekavski, Blitz’s Art Director, will be familiar to most Blitz attendees: her selections will frame the night, and she approaches DJing with the knowledge of a wide range of creative practices, resulting in multifaceted musical outcomes.
