Hamburg duo GOME favour their music with rough, real edges: ’90s house infused with funk, soul and disco “and a bit of punk energy.” This ethos extends to their all-hardware setup: no laptops, no safety nets. Following early releases, they launched their own imprint Snackwax in 2023, alongside their event series GOME + The Gang. A true DIY, hands-on operation.

Honey Dijon needs little introduction, yet her story always rewards revisiting. Raised on Chicago’s South Side, close to where house music was being shaped by and for Black, queer and trans communities, the history is not just context, it’s her subject. As both artist and historian, she champions the Black musical traditions at the core of house. Mentored by Frankie Knuckles & Derrick Carter and later producing for artists such as Beyoncé, her vision of dance music remains radically inclusive: “I want to be in a room with prostitutes and trans women and queer people and non-binary people and hedge fund people […] That’s a gumbo that makes the party special.”

Ian Pooley draws from the same lineage, inspired by house music from Chicago and Detroit in the late ’80s and early ’90s. The Mainz-born DJ and producer broke through with albums like Meridian and Since Then (the latter reissued in 2025 to mark its 25th anniversary), cultivating transatlantic house traditions from the Rhein-Main scene. He remains an underground fixture of house music to this day.
