Self-proclaimed > your favourite disc-jockey’s favourite disc-jockey < and > music enthusiast from Rotterdam <, Stranger returns to Blitz alongside Philippa Pacho, the mind behind the positivesource imprint, and our resident Kareem El Morr.
Mitchel Polderman enjoys his place in the shadows, with a grin. Whether operating under his enigmatic aliases Stranger (with the fitting, Instagram-optimised handle whoistrangernl) or TAFKAMP (> Try Acquiring Future Knowledge As Much Possible < — or perhaps > the artist formerly known as Mitchel Polderman < ?), or via websites like stranger.wtf, a sense of humour runs through what Dekmantel dubbed a “daredevil sound” or “iron-fisted techno”. Beneath the drive lies a curious knowledge of old-school Techno and harder strains, documented in his Conceptmixes on SoundCloud for example. Running multiple labels, from Self Reflektion to Pailing Trax and Perspektiv, further underlines a dedication to hitting hard, with style. > Not your average ‘unknown artist’ <, claims his bio, and it’s hard to disagree.
Philippa Pacho and Kareem El Morr complete the bill as two equally precise selectors with a shared drive to nurture music and Techno. Pacho co-runs positivesource alongside Blue Hour and her own Phorum Records, striking a balance between high-impact grooves and brooding, delicate soundscapes with a distinctly contemporary edge. Meanwhile, Kareem El Morr founded roots.audio as a platform for his own high-definition productions and those of close friends and local affiliates.
